At Hallaton C.E Primary School we deliver a challenging and stimulating curriculum in accordance with the skills, processes and learning objectives.  Through this, we promote the development of pupils’ knowledge, understanding and skills as part of the wider school curriculum.

In Foundation Stage, the early years curriculum concentrates on 7 areas of learning. These are: communication and language, physical development, personal, social and emotional, literacy, mathematics, understanding the world, and expressive arts and design. Topic work will embrace these areas of learning in a cross curricular way.

In KS1 and 2, English and Maths are taught through a variety of ways whilst following the National Curriculum in England Programme of Study for English and Maths. Children in Foundation Stage and KS1 follow the Read Write Inc. Phonics scheme and use the Reading scheme book bands to ensure swift and competent progress is made in reading.

Curriculum Maps contain an overview of areas studied by each year group.  Where topics are repeated they are building on previous knowledge and teach new material. Your child’s class teacher can give further information if necessary.
